A home inspection is a visual inspection of the structure and systems of a home to identify any major issues with the home before closing. As a licensed Home Inspector, I work to protect you and your investment with a thorough and comprehensive inspection following both the NC and SC Standards of Practice. I also offer a range of additional services to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to help make the buying or selling of your home as seamless as possible.

HOME INSPECTION

A basic home inspection includes a non-invasive visual inspection of the structure, foundation, systems and other components as determined by the standards of practice in your state. With the basic home inspection, I will provide you with a detailed report within 24 hours from the inspection time. This report will contain detailed information, including pictures, of the findings of the inspection.

RADON TESTING

TERMITE INSPECTION

Radon is a colorless, tasteless and odorless gas that can only be detected through testing. Radon forms naturally when uranium in soil or rock breaks down to form radium, which then turns into radon gas. Once formed, radon can enter a home through cracks in walls, basement floors, foundations and other openings. As radon decays, it releases radioactive byproducts that are inhaled and can cause lung cancer. Because radon comes from rock and soil, it can be found anywhere. The EPA recommends radon testing for anyone buying or selling a home.

A radon test consists of leaving an air sampling device in the home for a minimum of 48 hours. This device samples the air every hour and determines the average level of radon present during the sampling period. The EPA recommends radon remediation if radon levels are 4.0 pCi/L or higher.

If a termite inspection and letter are needed for your home purchase or peace of mind, I schedule this service with a licensed pest inspection company and handle the payment for your convenience. I make every effort to coordinate this inspection with the home inspection; however, it could occur before or after the regular inspection.

WELL INSPECTION

Well inspections consist of a visual inspection of the above ground components and the functionality of the system.

WATER TESTING

Water testing includes sending a water sample to a local laboratory to test for bacteria, lead, and nitrates/nitrites which can be done individually or grouped together.

My wife Sandy and I moved to Denver, North Carolina in 2010 and now have two boys, Gus & Max, and our dog, Buster. We love the Carolinas and feel lucky to be close to the mountains and such a growing area as Charlotte. I became a licensed home inspector in 2012 and have been a licensed NC General Contractor since 2008. In performing 200-300 inspections a year, I have seen my share of most everything and have learned to always expect the unexpected. I truly enjoy being a home inspector as it provides me freedom to have a healthy work life balance with my family and provides an important service to my clients. I take both of those responsibilities to heart, so most of my inspections will be scheduled during the weekdays and save the weekends for my boys and Sandy.
